Meet Dr. Hussein

Dr. Hussein’s journey in veterinary medicine spans a wide range of experiences that have shaped him into the well-rounded and dedicated veterinarian he is today. Early in his career, he worked extensively with large animals and equines, gaining invaluable hands-on knowledge and expertise. His interest in broadening his skill set also led him to work within the poultry industry and to serve in a pharmaceutical role at Pfizer, where he further expanded his understanding of animal health products and research.

Eventually, Dr. Hussein transitioned to small animal practice, becoming a full-time veterinary surgeon. Over the years, he has brought his expertise to multiple practices in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania—including a feline-only facility as well as specialty and emergency care hospitals. These diverse settings helped him refine his surgical skills and enhance his ability to provide top-tier care for pets from all walks of life.

In 2005, Dr. Hussein fulfilled his dream of opening his own clinic, Howell Veterinary Clinic and Emergency. This practice evolved into Howell Animal Hospital in 2010. Today, he owns and operates Howell Animal Hospital Surgical and Diagnostic Center, a state-of-the-art facility where he provides a comprehensive range of services. While his specialty is orthopedics, he offers numerous surgical procedures and services—encompassing everything from dental cleanings and soft tissue surgeries to blood testing, advanced imaging, and short-term hospitalization.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hussein has remained committed to staying at the forefront of veterinary medicine. He continually pursues ongoing education and training in new techniques and technologies so that pets receive the most up-to-date treatments possible. His mission is to provide every patient with the same level of compassion, attention, and expertise that he would desire for his own family’s animals.
