Types Of Endoscopy

Endoscopy means "looking inside" and it refers to look inside a hollow organ or a tract like upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy, vaginal tract, nasal tract, etc.

While this procedure is being performed, the animal is under general anesthesia. While the animal is sleeping, it doesn’t feel. This considered to be a minimally invasive procedure and can save the animal from the blade of the scalpel unless it necessary. If we found a foreign body in the stomach, that can be removed safely with the scope. Also, if we find a tumor/ulcer/polyp/lesion then and it can be biopsied, the condition can be diagnosed in a very fast time.

The video endoscope is a very essential tool in veterinary medicine as it saves a lot of time and money. We are in veterinary medicine and we live in a grey zone area. There is no white or black, because the pet is not helping so we need to use all the tools we have to shortly diagnose the condition and treat it accordingly. There were so many cases where owners elect not to perform an endoscopy, which can be fatal to the pet. Cases where this happens, an animal can end up dying and after necropsy we found we could have helped the pet and save it.

Diagnostic Testing at HAH

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

Upper Endopscopy:

Seeing the esophagus is impossible without the endoscope. Inflammation of the esophagus is very painful, and it takes a very long time of treatment, but the diagnosis is impossible without the endoscope.

Gastroscopy: is viewing the stomach, for foreign bodies, tumors, ulcers, or hypomotelity of the stomach, the sphincter etc...

Rhinoscopy and Bronchoscopy:

Rhinoscopy is the examination of the nasal cavity with a rigid rhinoscope viewing scope. It is a minimally invasive technique that assists with the diagnosis and treatment of nasal diseases like ulcerative rhinitis, tumors, and foreign bodies.

Bronchoscopy is the technique that allows the veterinarian to examine your pet's larynx, trachea and lungs, in case of chronic cough conditions, asthma, stenotic trachea, and bronchial wash.

Is the viewing of the bladder from the inside by a cystoscope (rigid) for diagnosis of incontinence, ectopic ureter, bleeding conditions, bladder tumors, etc.

Is the diagnosis and performance of a deep cleaning through a minimally invasive surgical procedure called maryingotomy with the use of a video rigid otoscope.
