While this procedure is being performed, the animal is under general anesthesia. While the animal is sleeping, it doesn’t feel. This considered to be a minimally invasive procedure and can save the animal from the blade of the scalpel unless it necessary. If we found a foreign body in the stomach, that can be removed safely with the scope. Also, if we find a tumor/ulcer/polyp/lesion then and it can be biopsied, the condition can be diagnosed in a very fast time.
The video endoscope is a very essential tool in veterinary medicine as it saves a lot of time and money. We are in veterinary medicine and we live in a grey zone area. There is no white or black, because the pet is not helping so we need to use all the tools we have to shortly diagnose the condition and treat it accordingly. There were so many cases where owners elect not to perform an endoscopy, which can be fatal to the pet. Cases where this happens, an animal can end up dying and after necropsy we found we could have helped the pet and save it.
Seeing the esophagus is impossible without the endoscope. Inflammation of the esophagus is very painful, and it takes a very long time of treatment, but the diagnosis is impossible without the endoscope.
